Mechanical & Electrical Upgrades

Location:  Columbia Heights, Minnesota
Square Footage:  75,000
Total Cost:  $2,300,000
Completed:  2005

Project Description

engineering design initiative was commissioned to design the mechanical, electrical, lighting, and audio/visual system upgrades for the aforementioned church that was constructed in early 1920.  The existing steam boilers dated back to the 1920 and not only served the original building but also multiple additions that occurred over time. EDI’s design included replacing and converting the entire steam heating system to hot water heat utilizing high efficiency condensing boilers. By incorporating new boiler technologies, the energy consumption and operating costs of the facility has been substantially reduced.

Following is a list of project features:

  • High Efficiency Condensing Boiler upgrade
  • Energy recovery of exhaust air using desiccant technology
  • Variable Air Volume (VAV) distribution to provide a high level of occupant control
  • High efficiency and decorative lighting.
  • Lighting dimming system
  • High efficiency motors with variable frequency drives.
  • Building Automation Control upgrade throughout
  • Voice/Data communications cabling
  • Life Safety fire alarm and emergency lighting design
  • Audio System upgrades
