Project Description
This new 118,000 square foot, $23M state-of-the-art public library was designed to incorporate many sustainable and energy saving technologies. The library was designed to exceed the Minnesota building code by at least 30%.
engineering design initiative was the engineer of record for the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, low voltage and security systems serving this building. Some of the key sustainable features include:
- In-floor radiant heating
- Energy recovery units
- 100% outside air systems
- Daylight harvesting to reduce the need for artificial lighting
- Occupancy sensors
- High efficiency motors
- Partial green roof to reduce storm water run-off and reduce heating and cooling
- High efficiency water heaters
