Project Overview:

EDI provided renewable energy engineering services for Deep Portage Environmental Learning Center, a nonprofit environmental education and outdoor recreation facility in northern Minnesota. Designed to support the organization’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, the project incorporated wind, solar thermal, and solar photovoltaic technologies to reduce energy consumption and offset the facility’s environmental footprint.

The renewable energy systems also serve as educational tools, demonstrating sustainable energy solutions to visitors, students, and program participants.

Project Highlights:

  • Renewable energy infrastructure for an environmental education center
  • 5 kW wind turbine with 130-foot tower
  • 35-panel solar photovoltaic array
  • 10-panel solar thermal hot water system
  • Utility grid-connected renewable energy systems
  • Supplemental on-site power generation
  • Reduced facility energy consumption and environmental impact
  • Educational demonstration of renewable energy technologies
  • Renewable energy engineering and system integration services
